On Sunday, a significant fire broke out in Sector 19 of the Mahakumbh Tent City in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The fire was caused by a cooking cylinder explosion, according to the police. The blaze engulfed 18 tents, and thick smoke was seen billowing from the site. Thankfully, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Kumbh Mela Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma confirmed that 15 fire tenders were deployed to control the fire. The situation was brought under control within 20 minutes, as stated by Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma. He commended the swift response of the police, firefighting teams, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Modi Respond: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site immediately after the incident. He assessed the damage and spoke with officials and firefighting teams to ensure effective management of the situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached out to CM Adityanath to inquire about the incident and the ongoing relief measures.
Relief and Support Measures: Minister AK Sharma expressed gratitude for the absence of casualties, attributing it to divine blessings from Ma Ganga, Triveni, and Lete Hanuman ji. The Samajwadi Party also conveyed sorrow over the incident and urged the government to expedite relief efforts. The party called for enhanced safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The Mahakumbh, which commenced on January 13 and will continue until February 26, has already attracted over 7 crore devotees and revered seers. Pilgrims from across India and the world have been visiting the holy confluence at Triveni Sangam for spiritual immersion.
